We took delivery of our E car the week before Christmas, the day before I finished college for Christmas.
There was great excitement , Cait decorated the car with Ruldalph’s antlers and nose, just to get into the Christmas spirit.
So we had the chance to try out the car for the usual short trips around the town and visiting friends.
Now Julie ( my wife) made several trips to Tesco over the Christmas holidays and was stopped several times by people wanting to know about the car. She gave out many of the brochures, which Conor from ESB ecars had left in the boot.
So how are we getting on?…..not too bad, I have taken it to college, where I have been given a designated parking spot where the charge point is located…..I get a lot of comments from my fellow students about the special treatment I get.
Caroline, our Campus Head, has been great about the project and the car is a great conversation piece on campus. Many are surprised with the amount of space in the car.
The only problem we have is the short range of 70 km, so to have to manage this very carefully.
I understand that there are some new models coming on line which will have three times the range.
There are two fast charge points in Wexford Town so you can get a quick charge up if you need it.
All in all we are doing very well, sorry about my long delay in doing my first blog, but I am up top the teeth in college projects.
Anyone in Wexford who wants a look at the car or who wants more info…..no problem give me a call.

Great to hear how you are getting on. What college are you traveling to? Could you let me know where the two fast charge points are in Wexford. Thanks. I know of one – Nisssan in Ardcavan but not the second one.
Redmond Square Car Park has a charging point. Do you know if you have to pay for a parking ticket while parked during charging.
Good news to know down in the sunny south east area – Waterford city car parks where there are charging points one does not have to pay for parking and the traffic wardens have been told re this policy. Alas, in Limerick city and Clonmel one has to pay while parked in a charging bay.
Hi Paddy, There is a Fast Charge Point at Maxol Service Station, Arklow Road in Gorey. Check out the charge point map above at http://www.esbecarsblog.ie/charge-points/
Hi Thomas, Sounds like you are getting on great with the car. Just to note that the iMiEVs which are part of the trial are pre-production cars, hence the shorter range. If you were to buy a Mitsubishi iMiEV the range would work out as appox. 110-130km.
