Meeting the Lord Mayor of Cork

Last week I had the great oppourtunity to meet the Lord Mayor of Cork John Buttimer, along with Dermot McArdle of ESB ecars and Eoghan O Donoughue, my fellow e-car ambassador at Cork City Hall. We discussed our experience of e-car driving with him and how electric driving could be facilitated in Cork. He even drove one of the cars and charged at the newly updated charge point on the South Mall. Thank you so much to everyone involved for their time, especially the Lord Mayor.

Ambassadors, Martha Doyle and Eoghan O’Donoghue with their electric cars outside City Hall.

South Mall in Cork city.

As an aside I have also seen that there is a well organised volunteer network of charge points in the U.S. to augment the new charge point network. I would be interested in creating a similar network in Ireland if someone needs an emergency charge. What do people think?

    Martha,
Great to see the the Lord Mayor so interested in the ecars. Thanks for the pics.
Could not agree more with you – on your point of having a network in Ireland if someone needs an emergency charge, especially after my experience today of 7 hours having to get sorted out at a charging point in Portumna that was not working, even though the app map said it was operational. There is such a group in the UK – http://plugsurfing.co.uk A group who would be interested in you plan I feel would be the Irish EV Owners Group.
